Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday!

As a starting point for my rambling, I have decided to periodically fill you in on some of my recent and stand-by favorite stuff. I'm assuming this will be mostly beauty products. I may have different themes each week...we will just see where it goes!

Because I just discovered this hair product and it is my newest obsession,  I give you: THE ALL TIME BEST DRY SHAMPOO EVER!!!

I am a curly girl, so when I do straighten my hair, it takes a lot of time and heat damage, so I like to make the look last as long as possible. I have tried every drugstore brand of dry shampoo, but I always get the same results: a chalky, still greasy mess. I hate the feeling, and it usually ends up looking worse.

Last week, I got about a foot cut off of my hair. I love the drastic change, but I quickly realized that it looked much better straight. I was out shopping, looking at some products for managing my new 'do, when I stumbled across Not Your Mother's Clean Freak dry shampoo. I have seen some other bloggers singing the praises of this product, and they were not kidding!

I love this stuff! It takes away the greasy feel with no chalky residue! It also gave me great volume. After 4 days I forced myself to wash my hair (because that's just gross) but I swear to you, it still wasn't greasy!

Holy Grail products are hard to come by, but this is definitely my new stand-by for making my blow out last for days.

Have a great weekend!

Hidden Blessings

It's no secret....I live for the weekends. By no means do I hate my job,  I just don't like working. Each week I seem to wish the days away until Friday night, only for the weekend to rush by in the blink of an eye. I definitely don't think I am alone in this feeling, and I wish very much that I could learn to appreciate each day.
Yesterday, I had one of those moments where you stop in your tracks and suddenly realize something you take for granted is a HUGE blessing. Each day, I come home from work and after a kiss from the hubs, I run upstairs to put on some sweats. As I took off my dress pants, I laid them on the bed next to Chris' s. At first I thought "how cute! His and her's work pants!"

Suddenly, I realized a deeper meaning in this action. We are so blessed to both be working full time jobs. As annoying as the daily grind may be, there are so many struggling to find work and to make ends meet. Not only that, we were also privileged enough to graduate from college and attain white collar, comfortable jobs.
Many times, I get bummed out by our student loan payments, and feel like I am on a hamster wheel of working hard to pay back the education that gave me my job. However, this is blinding me of the blessings God has provided to Chris and I.

Im sure this idea won't drag me out of bed when my alarm goes off at 5:30 every morning, but it certainly changed my outlook on the weekday grind. I hope it provided you with some insight as well!

Guess Who's Back?

Abbie's back....tell a friend.

Whew, it has been awhile! I briefly gave up blogging,  because it seemed more overwhelming than I had anticipated.  We had just come off a hectic summer and a kitchen remodel that took months longer than expected. By the time the holidays rolled around,  I had absolutely no time to myself and my brain was too fried for writing.

I also started with the idea that I had to write at least 3 times a week. Any creative writer knows that the words do not come on a schedule. Some days I am flooded with ideas, and other times I can go for weeks with no inspiration at all. I started this blog as a place for my thoughts and to express myself, so I will now be taking a more relaxed approach to my writing. One day...one thought...maybe just one picture at a time!
